The Black Rabbit
A playful, ingredient-driven bistro where creativity and comfort (plus excellent ice cream) collide.
Playful, polished and brimming with personality, The Black Rabbit is what happens when a chef and restaurateur rediscovers the joy of cooking on his own terms. Founded by Chris Black (formerly of Lupa), The Black Rabbit offers contemporary classic bistro fare with a focus on ingredients and preparation. There’s an unmistakable sense of fun and creativity running through the place, from the curated art walls to the menu, which is rounded out by daily blackboard specials. If the likes of Western Cape-veal escalopes in a vodka-tomato sauce with buffalo mozzarella, peas and Parma ham sounds like your idea of comfort food, then hurry on down. Dessert is practically mandatory – try the Cottontail Creamery Sundae, with strawberry, chocolate and pistachio ice cream, smashed chocolate brownie, banana, berries and chocolate pearls. A thoughtfully curated wine list rounds out this characterful picture perfectly.
Don't leave without trying:
The home-made pasta or one of the changing blackboard specials – a reason to return again and again.
