Ginja Restaurant at the V&A Waterfront quietly defies expectations. Located in the Victoria & Alfred hotel, it has established itself as a destination for locals rather than just a convenience for overnight guests. Its welcoming atmosphere, consistent quality and thoughtful pricing make it an integral part of the local dining scene rather than a tourist-focused space. Plus, it has one of the best views of Table Mountain in the city! The menu showcases South African flavours in modern, contemporary dishes such as springbok carpaccio, Saldanha Bay oysters with Granny Smith apple relish, and the Fire & Smoke board – rib-eye sosaties, buttermilk chicken, Wagyu frikkadels, smoked cheese griller sausage with tomato smoor and hand-cut fries. There are also sophisticated seafood offerings, including grilled harissa prawns, a seafood platter and seafood linguine. A local cheeseboard and dessert including rooibos malva pudding and dark chocolate tart will end the experience on a high note.

Don't leave without trying:
