Vismandjie
One of J-Bay's oldest takeaways spots and still the freshest fish in town.
Husband-and-wife team Marius and Lola Luiters built this J-Bay institution from the ground up, raising their kids in and around the shop while serving the freshest fish straight from the boats. In fact, Vismandjie moves roughly three tons of seafood, all cleaned and filleted on site, during a busy week – that’s how popular it is. Since Oom Marius's passing, their son Marlo has stepped up to carry the legacy forward. Order at the counter, grab a cold beer or gin from the tap while you wait, then take your meal to the deck for some fresh coastal city air. (Alternatively, take your takeaway down to Supertubes Beach to watch surfers doing their thing on this famous right-hand point break.) Right next door to Vismandjie you’ll find its sister eateries Die Kospot (traditional South African fare in takeaway form) and Gisters coffee shop and bakery.
